We have handled many cases involving brachial plexus injuries caused by damage to nerves in the neck and shoulder during mishandled births. These injuries can result in devastating life-long disability, including a limp or paralyzed arm. This particular case involved an infant born with permanent brain damage resulting from a brachial plexus injury sustained during a series of failed vacuum extraction attempts by the obstetrician. She also suffered permanent brain damage after a two-hour delay to perform a C-Section, even after realizing the baby’s oxygen supply was cut off. We successfully argued that the obstetrician and hospital staff were negligent in the delivery, and negotiated a settlement to provided funds for the child’s life-long treatment needs.
